Scanner Settings
- Enabling Infinite Peripheral Gear - This is required for the laser scanner to function. If this is turned off, they can use their phone and built-in camera to scan tickets.
- Continuous Scan - Activate Continuous Scan mode to enable the scanner's laser to stay on after scanning a ticket. It is useful for scanning multiple tickets in high-traffic entry points; people can just walk up, scan, and go in quickly.
By default, continuous scan is turned off.
- Check Unknown Serials - Enable this setting if you want the scanner to check with the server for unknown tickets. Useful when scanning tickets without prior synchronization or in areas with poor internet connectivity. This function sends a request to servers to check in real-time if a ticket is valid. If this is turned off and any ticket is sold after the scanner is loaded, it will mark that ticket as invalid.
This should always be turned on.
- Customizing Scan Sounds - Each scanner can be set with different valid ticket scan sounds, which apply to all valid tickets scanned on that specific scanner. This feature is useful when multiple people are scanning tickets in close proximity. Different valid scan sounds help prevent confusion, ensuring that no one mistakes another person's valid scan sound for their own. For example, with four people standing next to each other, each having a distinct valid scan sound, it helps ensure that no one is mistakenly admitted with invalid tickets.
- Using Lock Mode - Lock mode requires a triple click to unlock the scanner. Useful to prevent accidental changes during scanning operations. Enable Search allows you to search while it’s locked.
- Force Device Reconnect - Will do a software reset to help with reconnecting.
Scan Modes
- Test Mode - Use test mode to check the status of a ticket without marking it as used. Ideal for testing scanner functionality without affecting ticket validity. Whatever ticket you scan it will tell you the status, but will not mark that ticket as used. And you can repeat this multiple times.
- Checkout Mode - Checkout mode allows you to mark tickets as unused after they've been scanned. Useful for monitoring real-time head-counts in specific areas such as going in “used” and leaving “unused” marking of the ticket.
- Filter Mode - Filter mode lets you specify which tickets should be accepted and which should be rejected. Useful for creating custom entry gates, such as VIP entrances.
Synchronization Process
Scanners synchronize with the cloud and other devices upon scanning a ticket. Ensure your scanners have an active internet connection for real-time synchronization. Synchronization occurs at every scan. So yes, it is real-time, but updates are only happening during the scanning of tickets.
Handling Offline Data
Scanners may store data when offline, which will synchronize with the server once an internet connection is re-established. Ensure your scanner is online to transmit this stored data and synchronize with the cloud.
Troubleshooting & Equipment
Using the Pistol Grip:
If you have a pistol grip scanner, it comes with an extended battery pack for continuous operation for up to 8 hours. To enable the extended battery and start charging the scanner, follow these steps:
- Slide the switch located on the handle of the pistol grip.
- Ensure you put your wrist through the wrist loop to prevent accidental drops.
Troubleshooting the Pistol Grip Scanner
If the scanner stops working or you want to conserve battery without charging, follow these instructions:- Slide the switch down on the pistol grip
- The scanner will stop charging but will continue to work when you pull the trigger
How to Best Scan Tickets
To ensure accurate and efficient ticket scanning, use the following tips:
- Press and hold the scan button to trigger the scanner
- Hold the ticket about 4-6 inches away from the scanner
- Keep the ticket straight, ensuring that the barcode faces the scanner directly
Scanning Tickets on Cell Phones
When scanning tickets on cell phones, consider the following:
- Zoom in on the barcode until it's approximately 1 inch in size. Proper barcode size is crucial for successful scans.
- Avoid direct sunlight as it can reflect off the phone's glass, making it difficult to scan. If there is no cover, try shading the ticket by turning your back to the sun.
- Ask the customer to increase their screen brightness to make scanning easier.
- If all else fails, you can look up the order and manually check in the guest.
Tips to Be a Pro:
Here are some additional tips to enhance your scanning efficiency:
-
Admit Whole Orders: Instead of scanning each ticket individually, scan one ticket from
the order, click the green checkmark on the screen, and then select View Whole Order.
This allows you to admit everyone in the order at once. -
Test Mode: If you need to check the status of a ticket without marking it as used, enable
"Test Mode" from the options menu. The scanner will display the ticket's status. -
Charge It Up: When your equipment arrives, plug everything in to ensure all devices
have a full charge when it's time to start the event.
Troubleshooting Tip
If you encounter issues, consider restarting the scanner. For users with 4G cellular internet, wait until you see "4G" or "LTE" at the top of the phone before logging in.
By following these steps and tips, you'll be well-prepared to use your wireless scanner effectively and efficiently at your event.
